WASH and SAATHI

WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) and SAATHI (Social Accountability, Access to Information and Transparency, and Human Rights Integration) Workplace Assessment for Safety and Hygiene is a tool designed to help organizations assess and improve the safety and hygiene conditions of their workplaces.

The assessment tool focuses on three main areas:

  • Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH): This includes the availability and accessibility of clean water and sanitation facilities, as well as the promotion of good hygiene practices such as handwashing.
  • Workplace Safety: This includes the identification and management of workplace hazards, as well as the provision of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety training for employees.
  • Social Accountability and Human Rights: This includes the promotion of social accountability and human rights, including the rights of workers to a safe and healthy workplace, access to information, and the right to voice their concerns.

The assessment tool is designed to be conducted by trained assessors, who use a standardized checklist to evaluate the workplace conditions and identify areas for improvement. The tool also includes a scoring system, which allows organizations to track their progress over time and compare their performance to industry benchmarks.

By using the WASH and SAATHI Workplace Assessment tool, organizations can identify areas for improvement in their workplace safety and hygiene practices, implement targeted interventions to address these issues, and demonstrate their commitment to social responsibility and sustainability.
