SEDEX Audits

SEDEX (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange) is a non-profit organization that aims to improve ethical and responsible business practices in global supply chains. SEDEX offers a platform for companies to share and manage ethical data about their suppliers.

SEDEX audits, also known as SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) audits, are designed to evaluate suppliers’ compliance with ethical and responsible business practices. These audits are based on a common set of standards and procedures, which are widely recognized and accepted by many industries.

SEDEX audits typically cover four main areas: labor standards, health and safety, environmental practices, and business ethics. Auditors will review policies, procedures, and records related to these areas, conduct interviews with employees, and inspect facilities to assess compliance.

SEDEX audits can be conducted by SEDEX-approved third-party auditors, or companies can conduct their own audits using the SEDEX self-assessment tool. Once the audit is complete, the supplier’s ethical data is uploaded to the SEDEX platform, where it can be accessed by SEDEX members and buyers.

SEDEX audits are becoming increasingly important as companies seek to improve supply chain transparency and reduce the risk of unethical or unsustainable practices in their supply chains. By conducting SEDEX audits, companies can demonstrate their commitment to responsible business practices and help build a more sustainable and ethical global economy.
